About

Behind the Studio

Gifted Ocean Studio started because the games and decks we wanted didn't exist yet. The kind that take art seriously, that treat their players as collaborators, that hold together across a tabletop, a screen, and a song. So we made them. One project at a time, slowly, in the studio's own voice. What started as a small experiment is now a body of work spanning tabletop RPGs, trading card games, tarot, digital games, and visual art, all anchored to a single universe: Astro Oceans.

We're still small on purpose. Staying small is how we keep the craft close to the work, and the work close to the people who play it.

Our Principles

How we make things, and why.

1

Build with, not at.

The people who play our work shape it. Backers, readers, the community on Discord. They're in the room while something is being made, not just at the end of it. We've never wanted an audience. We wanted collaborators.

1

Design is devotion.

Every deck, rulebook, and interface carries the weight of the hands that made it. We design slowly because we love the craft, and because the object in your hands should feel like someone cared. Speed is cheap. Intention is not.

1

A living for makers.

Art deserves a paycheck. We hire illustrators, writers, designers, and fellow weirdos at fair rates, because a healthy creative industry means people getting paid to do what they love. The work we put out is also a wage we put in.

The Mark

A promise.

The Gifted Ocean logo is a promise. Whatever it sits on (a card, a rulebook, a soundtrack, a game) has been made with attention, paid for fairly, and built to last longer than the season it shipped in.

Partnerships, press, and the occasional long letter.

Letters are welcome. We answer slowly.
